Kwassa - Good Life (Out Now On Warner Records)
Brand new summer bop from British alt-pop talent Kwassa - Good Life
kwassa (aka Scott Verrill) drops his fresh summer-tinged single Good Life today Friday 9th August 2019 via Warner Records. The song was co-written with long-time collaborators Tim Woodcock & David Goodes and was three years in the making whilst kwassa strove to get the production just right. Good Life represents an evolution in kwassa’s signature alt-pop sound, delivering a fresh, beat-driven pop cut with afrobeat influences.
kwassa recently played a sold-out headline show at London’s The Borderline, where he played songs from his recent EP fka kyko. The EP features fan-favorite sad songs, a track that was championed by Adele Robert’s ‘Best New Pop’ show on Radio 1.
“I wrote Good Life when I was leaving my teens and wanted to write songs about life rather than love. This is still relevant to how I work now; I think the feeling of escapism never grows old or difficult to relate to. It made sense to enlist Lostboy for production because he produced the last EP, and I really wanted to sonically glue this new track to that release as close as I could.”
kwassa- real name Scott Verrill- has been making music for as long as he can remember. He was still at school when he was part of the youngest band to play at Glastonbury and has spent the past four years developing his sound under the name KYKO. He quickly found an audience online who connected with his musical daydreams about life and love. He independently released two EPs that earned support from The Line Of Best Fit, Wonderland, Clara Amfo, BBC Introducing, as he racked up a total of 15 million streams and resulted in him selling out London’s Omeara. Scott compares evolving into kwassa as “a new chapter” in his musical journey. The new name reflects his wide-ranging inspirations including the music he grew up with: Vampire Weekend and particularly their song ‘Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa’. kwassa’s music now has 21 million streams to date.
