Welcome to Detroit, MI, also known as The Birthplace of Techno. Over Memorial Day Weekend, the 25th -27th of May, the annual Movement Electronic Festival returns to celebrate the city's musical heritage and influence.
The festival takes place in legendary Hart Plaza on the Detroit River, a true tribute to the strength of the people.
The official opening party kicks off on May 24th, with plenty of pre and after parties as well as unique events in venues throughout the city. Attendees can expect a top line-up featuring LSD, Orbital, Dubfire, Gucci Mane, Richie Hawtin, and Fjaak.
Movement is made up of five stages, each with a one-of-a-kind personality. The Stargate Stage is all about the Detroit sound. The Resident Advisor Underground Stage is home to angular techno. The Red Bull Presents Stage showcases funk, hip-hop, breakbeats, and ghettotech. The Pyramid Stage houses hybrid tech-house, and lastly The Movement Stage features the biggest of the top players.
This year's Movement Artist-In-Residence is internationally acclaimed artist Kevin Lyons. His “Monsters” installation will be on display at the amphitheater next to the Pyramid Stage.
No festival is complete without food, and Movement offers a wide variety of tasty delights. Sweetwater beer is sponsoring the Movement Studio, which showcases industry leaders in global music production. There are ten brands participating, covering topics from emerging DJ technologies to modular synth production, product demonstrations, and hands-on interaction.
Tickets are available now, and show-goers can choose from full weekend or single day general passes, VIP weekend or single day passes, or the Club313 pass.
